The Race Goes On
April 25 - Friday night we returned to Hays and was able to capture a 7th place finish even though the car was down one cylinder. At the time, the boys did not know what was wrong. It was extremely disappointing as Matthew had a good starting position and was confident he had the setup to be in the top 5. Later, they found the spark plug wire had come off and later, they found the cracked distributor. Aunt Ruth Ann got to come to her first race along with the fan section - Jacob, Grandma & Grandpa Crowell, Nicole, Great-Grandma Effie, Grandpa Carl, and Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Clarence.
Saturday we took the night off for more important things to do with family and friends. There was singing and beer involved and Matthew got to take Rylee on a date. Then, Rylee and Matthew returned on Sunday and we officially started race season with an Effie Cheeseburger. Rylee managed to eat a small one and she needed the energy as she got put to work just a little bit in the pits that night. Ward, Kim, Wyatt and Chance joined us as well.
Then it was on to WaKeeney. Hot laps looked great and the heat race was great. Matthew led the heat race and then got a little high giving up 4 positions with just a couple of laps left. He made it back to 3rd. Looked great and was all ready for feature with a good starting position. Started off great but quickly started losing ground. Something was wrong again. Boys could hear it, but not sure yet what it is. Matthew dropped back to 11th position.
Next Friday, we are back in Hays one more time. Colby is now running SportMod so I will add those dates to the calendar soon.
