Never Give Up

October 24:  The boys worked all week to rebuild the front end of the Youth Hornet.  Since the Mustang is a unibody, it required cutting off the entire front end and then replacing it with a front end from a parts car.  A lot of work and a lot of hours for just one race, but at least they know they have given it their all.  Of course, Steve did the majority of the work with Jacob jumping in after his homework was done.  Matthew helped out Saturday morning.  He came in the house and said it was obvious that they didn't need his help anymore because they were putting flames on the car.  That's a long story dating back to the go-karts.

Car looks great and they head for 81 Speedway.  Jacob had a good heat race with a second place finish putting him in the best position for the feature with the outside pole.  He was pretty loose during the heat race and told his Dad to tighten it up.  Then he was too tight for the feature.  You could tell he was over driving the car and searching for the right line.  He ended his season with a third place finish.

Now the off-season work begins.  We visited the sportsmod yesterday and it is starting to look like a race car.  Steve is putting an engine in the Hobby Stock today so Jacob can take it out and hot lap on Wednesday.  We'll attend a few track banquets this winter and be busy building back two race cars.  The list of things to get done before the 2010 season begins is long.  Together, we'll be ready.  And together, we'll have our best season yet.

I would like to end the 2009 season with just a note of thanks.  The support and help this year has been tremendous.  We definitely appreciate all of it and are very, very thankful to be blessed with such wonderful family, friends, and fans.  Thank you.
