All Day Racing at 81
September 26 - 81 Speedway holds an all day event with heat races at 2 and features at 7. Overall, there were few yellows the whole day and night. Steve said that was because it was so tacky with so much grip. That type of track tends to help those with less driving skills I think. Jacob's heat race was pretty smooth and I think he got 4th. More importantly, we got to discuss the starts and he learned some things about the start he didn't know. Watching is not the same as doing. Mom got to add some value in the pits helping with that one. He had a much better start in the feature.
We had almost 4 hours break between heats and features. We got to have a nice visit with the Wilsons and I ate some of their food. It was a beautiful day outside so I enjoyed doing nothing for a change - mostly. Back to racing at 7 and by then, they had scraped and redone the track. It was super tacky and it pulled our little 4 cyclinder motor down with it really well. Jacob just couldn't compete and came in 7th. Hard for us to want to spend any money on that motor though. Guess it depends on how long he runs it before moving into the Hobby Stock.
We have next weekend off and guess what we are doing. Going to Nascar races thanks to my brother. Following weekend we are in Hays for the 2-day Fall Nationals. The event starts with qualifying races on Friday and finishes on Saturday. This is Matthew's last race of the year. We are still waiting on the October schedule from 81 speedway for Jacob. I'm hoping he can get at least three more races in this year.
